Natural. Organic. Effective.
For centuries, aleppo soap has been used as a skincare solution. So what exactly makes it a skincare superstar? We’re breaking it down to highlight its history, formulation, and skincare benefits.
Origin
Aleppeo soap dates back to 4000 BC when it was discovered by the inhabitants of Syria. Those that were living in the city of Aleppo developed the specialized process for making this specialty soap. This process was later brought to Italy and France by the Crusaders.
Manufacturing Process
Aleppo soaps are traditionally crafted with olive oil and laurel leaf oil. Olive oil is boiled with water and lye for about three days before laurel leaf oil is added. Once mixed, the contents are poured on the floor to cool and harden.
TIP: Authentic Aleppo soaps should float in water. It is one of the only soaps in the world to do so.
When fully dried, the soap is cut and stacked and left to age anywhere from a few months to a year.
TIP: The higher the concentration of laurel oil, the more effective the soap will be. Higher laurel concentrations (20-30%+) are recommended for acne, eczema, psoriasis, and dry skin.
